Whispers Along the PathAn animal trails and nature walk pack for curious children and their grown-ups
You don't have to. If you feel able, a small donation to Action Oak helps make sure the oaks are still standing when the child this pack is for has children of their own.
Every evening, as the light turned gold, a young fox set out along the old path through the wood. To you or me it would have looked like any other path. But to the fox, it was full of messages. A tuft of grass said: another fox passed this way at dawn. A flat stone by the stream said: this is my wood. The fox read every one with her nose, left a message of her own, and trotted on.
That is the story this pack opens with. Then you set a track trap of damp sand at dusk and read it in the morning, lay a scent trail with two kitchen essences, and take a map on a walk to find the signposts, larders and homes along it. Six A4 pages to print: the story, a page for grown-ups, reading the woods, two activity sheets and a Did You Know? page.
Designed for ages 3–8. The PDF comes to your inbox. Print at home on A4, in colour or black and white.
This is one of seven packs. The other six follow by email, one a week, each with its own story, a page for grown-ups, the science, an experiment that works and a Did You Know? page. You can stop them at any time.
